Welcome to the CenW download page

CenW is a generic forest growth model originally developed by Miko Kirschbaum. It simulates photosynthetic carbon gain, water use and the nitrogen cycle through soil organic matter. The photosynthetic modelling uses a very simple, yet physiologically based, description of photosynthesis together with simple assumptions about light interception.

Calculation of water use is linked to light interception and calculated carbon gain which are linked to water loss via an assumed water use efficiency term. Nitrogen turn-over is calculated with a modified version of the CENTURY model, which closely links organic nitrogen in the soil with matching pools of soil carbon.

It is suitable for simulating forest growth under different climatic and soil conditions, and in response to silvicultural application and climate change simulations. It follows wood-volume growth and carbon balances in biomass and soil organic matter.

To download the the latest version of this software (version 3.1), please fill in the following CenW 3.1 (compiled model) FORM. You can also download the full source code (written in Delphi). The newer version is easier to implement, runs in standard Delphi and does not require the specialised add-on routines that were required for the previous version. If you want down-load that, please, follow this CenW 3.1 (full source code) LINK.

You can still download the previous version of this software (version 3.0). The older version has no functionality that is not retained in the newer version but it is still available at CenW 3.0. You can also still download the old source code. To do that, please, follow this CenW 3.0 LINK.
